  Pura Tanah Lot “ Tanah Lot ” berasal dari kata “Tanah” (daratan) dan “Lot” atau “Lod” (laut), yang berarti daratan di tengah laut. Menurut Sejarah & Legenda Pura Tanah Lot dibangun pada abad ke-16 oleh Dang Hyang Nirartha, seorang pendeta suci dari Jawa yang menyebarkan ajaran Hindu di Bali. Menurut legenda,Dang Hyang Nirartha melihat batu karang besar di laut dan merasakan kekuatan spiritual di tempat itu. Ia kemudian bermeditasi di sana dan meminta penduduk setempat membangun pura. Pura ini didedikasikan untuk pemujaan Dewa Baruna atau Dewa Laut.
